Im a natural born athlete, so working out has always been
in my blood. I can remember always wanting to be the first one chosen in PE for
team sporting activities. Now I didn’t and still don’t have totally athletic
skills. For example, I am the worst BB player, but since I had speed, people
would pick me for their teams. I ran track and was a cheerleader for many
years. Both sports, (yes cheerleading is a sport) kept me busy and fit. I was
able to maintain a healthy, fit body for years. When going to college I felt
the need to keep it up, but somewhere I got lazy and had the junior 15 creep up on me vs freshman 15.
After moving to Dallas in 2008, I decided there was
something to be done about my weight gain. The scale said I weighed 170,
however, I felt bigger and no one believed me. I eventually joined 24 hr fitness. My reason
for choosing 24 hour was simply that my job had a discount incentive program
through them. I wanted to take the group exercise classes, but I was nervous about
not being in shape like the other attendees. So I went to the gym for about a
year. I didn’t notice much of a difference in my weight. Couldn’t figure out
why. I then noticed, I was “playing” around. I was just jumping from machine to
machine because it looked like the right one to use.
In the later 2010, I started to focus on certain features on
my body. I began researching and educating myself on various health topics and
workout regimens. After going natural, I realized how much I really wanted to
take care of my body. I started to change my eating habits, proper portion control
and a solid workout regimen. I started
eating more lean protein, fresh fruits/ veggies, and less carbs.
Compared to what I know now, I do not regret any of my past
workout flaws. I’ve been able to gain knowledge and lose weight. With the body
type that I have, being skinny is somewhat hard. And honestly, I’m not really
interested in being skinny. More so fit, fine and healthy. I still have fitness
goals I want to reach, but Im being realistic about reaching them. I have participated in a few 5K runs, and
preparing to complete my first triathlon this upcoming year (Summer 2012). Ultimately, I plan to run marathons. As for now, Im taking Zumba, Nike Training Club, Hip Hop, Pole Fitness and Danceathon,. Of course the majority of my classes are dance. BUT I love dancing!! I’ll keep everyone posted on my current
workout routine. Also I will write about either past or current classes or regimens!! Be on the look for reviews about P90X, Insanity, Yogalates, Body Pump, Swimming, Spinning, and many more!!!
